Unfortunately, the revisions that we were going to make for our movie did not happen because of the coronavirus. We were not able to shoot the other scenes due to us not being allowed to see each other. We were going to film an ending scene to our opening where Makayla would be dropping off the bag that she stole at a luxurious home and leaving it on the front step. I was not allowed to leave my house or see anyone because of the lockdown order, so that scene did not get filmed.

Creative Critical Reflection Prezi Final

We integrated a few technology's in our project such as phones and laptops. We used an Iphone camera to film the scenes and get all of the shots. Then we went back and enhanced the quality and lighting in the settings. We used a Macbook laptop to edit the film together and put the title and credits on and we used Imovie to do it.

Ccr#3

My production skills definitely advanced throughout this project. In the beginning I really had no clue how to edit or film any of the shots that we did. I learned how to edit some clips on the computer that helped my production skills. I also learned how to change settings on the Iphone camera which also improved my production skills. My teammates helped me a lot along the way of this project, we worked very well in helping each other and learning all of the new things together so that our skills were on point. I am very confident in the things I have learned and what we have done.

Our film engages the audience with thrill and adrenaline because it is a car chase. Since there is much going on and the incidental music makes it seem high speed and interesting to grab the audiences attention. This film could also be for many different ages, if they like action movies. It's not for kids, as it probably wouldn't keep their attention, but more for older teens and adults, and even old people.  This film would be distributed as real media text through trailers and billboards. We would publish at least 2 trailers that show part of the chase and the phone calls going on with Makayla. That will then want people to watch to see what happens and it will really pull them in. Making people invested in our film is the main goal, so we would also use billboards to make our film know. We would use a picture of Makayla getting chased on Erik by foot, so that it will look interesting and make people wonder why she is being chased.

Ccr#1

In our film, there were a variety of conventions used such as a use of different camera shots and fonts. The first convention was a low angle shot of Eriks car driving down the ramp. We did this shot to show how there was a chase and how it was starting. The second convention we used was a close up of Makayla and Eriks cars driving down the road. We used this to show that the chase was still going on and there was obviously some tension between the two. The last convention was the use of the title font for the film. We chose this font because we felt it looked best with this film due to it being big and bold. It also goes along with the film because the film is full of action and the font is like that too, not a typical one. There are two social groups that are represented in our film. Erik is the good guy and Makayla is the criminal. Makayla has stolen something from Erik so he is after her to get what she stole.

3rd Quarter submission

To sum it together, for our revisions we fixed the quality if our video because it was too blurry before. We fixed this by uploading the video directly from Logan's  computer. For our second revision we changed the fonts on our film, to something not so generic because they were basic and boring. For our third revision we changed the title of our film to "Uncatchable" instead of "The Chase." We felt as if Uncatchable left it more suspenseful  and shows that whoever  is being chased cant be caught  so it leaves you wondering .

Revision 3

For our third revision we changed the title of our film. Before it was "The Chase." That title was too basic and could be about anything. We decided to change our title to "Uncatchable." This title makes it more suspenseful and makes you wonder what is uncatchable. We made the title look bold so that is comes off as it is very serious and intense filled movie.

Distribution Plan

For our movie, we would want to get our movie distributed by Universal Pictures. Since the trailer for our movie came out on January 31st, we were going to set the release date to be in April of 2020. But, we have now moved it to May of 2020 to gain some extra money from the start of the Memorial Day weekend here in the United States. We plan on DVD/ Blu ray versions of our film coming out 12-16 weeks after the premier date in May, which would be around August. This will increase the number of people viewing our film because a lot may have not seen it in the movie theater. After that we plan on having Netfix, Hulu and Amazon prime to release our movie and have it on their streaming services. This will happen about 4-6 months after coming out in May, which would leave it to come out around October.

Distribution Research- Mad Max: Fury Road

Image
The movie Mad Max used multiple ways to distribute their movie throughout the time it was released. First, they released the movie in theaters on May 15, 2015, and made it available on DVD to sell it in stores on September 1, 2015 as well as make it available for purchase and rent on Amazon. They also made it available on Hulu, HBO, and Netflix to watch. When looking at the distribution for this movie we felt as that we would incorporate some of the same aspects, such as using digital distribution and DVD form for our movie.

Distribution Research-Transformers The Last Night

Image
The movie Transformers: The Last Knight has a similar audience to ours by having the action seeking audience. The distribution of the film was done by many different ways by Paramount Pictures, first the movie was put on the Blu-ray 4k and Blu-ray 3D. The movie was also put into DVD. By doing this it increased the number of people easily viewing the film. The film was released on July 21, 2017 and was put into DVD on September 26, 2017. Additionally in some places globally, Transformers: The Last Knight was available on Netflix. It is also availale other streamin services including, Hulu and Amazon Prime. They also started released the film with the previous Transformer movies to create a bigger package to promote older movies. By these distrubtion methods, there will be more access to watch the film. For our movie we should also have many other streaming platforms air our movie.

Revision 2

For our second revision, we changed the font of the credits and the title. At first they were pretty generic and didn't really fit the theme, so after watching openings to movies that relate to pur film, we looked at fonts and changed them.

Revision 1

For our first revision we fixed the quality of the video. Before, the video was blurry and had very low quality. Before, the video wasn't uploaded from Logan's computer directly so, this time we uploaded it directly from Logan's computer which increased the quality of the video.

Distribution Research-Fast and Furious 7

Fast and Furious 7 used multiple ways to distribute their movie throughout. First, they sold the movie in stores on DVD as well as make it available for rent or buy on amazon prime. They also made the movie digital on Netflix and available for purchase on HBO. We would incorporate these ways to distribute our movie by making ours available digitally as well as purchasable on other forms.

Distribution Research

Traditionally, films distribute their movies within stores or digitally, such as amazon prime, Netflix,  Hulu, Target, Best Buy and more. For our movie I felt that we would go to the digital route and distribute our movie digitally. This would work better because our movie wouldn't be as well known as other movies so it would be easier for people to rent it. I feel as if we would make more money from our movie if we were to sell it digitally instead of spending all of the money to put it in theaters.

Marketing plan

When planning out marketing for our film I believe we should do similar marketing ideas to the films we researched. I believed we should make a social media account to promote our movie. By having a social media account we can create ads that can be reposted to increase the audience of our film. It is also a quick, easy and free way to promote the movie. We can also have our actors post ads for the movie and with their following they can promote and share the film.

audience engagement research- Drive

Drive and my movie have the same target audience of adults. To market their movie they used TV ads and commercials. They made sure their trailer was put out there and known that the movie was going to release. They used online techniques for the movie. For my movie I would mostly use online marketing because of everyone being on so much social media nowadays.

audience engagement research- Baby Driver

Our target audiences are a similar to the movie Baby Driver because it features a fast paced action crime thriller. Our audiences are similar most likely young adults. The producers of Baby Driver chose a bold release date for the movie. They used certain elements and different suspense in the trailers to make you want to watch it. They used online ads and and the trailers were heavily used for social media ads that drove views and interests in ticket sales. For my movie I would use the same techniques to release. I would really focus on the right time for the movie to come out and make sure that my target audience was really seeing the ads and wanting to watch. I would also get my cast members to go on shows and talk about the movie and give some details but not all.

audience engagement research- The fate of the Furious

The target audience for our movie as well as The Fate and the Furious is similar because the movie applies to all audiences and fits everyone's desires in the movie. Both of our films also have high action plots. The Fate of the Furious marketed their movie by using commercials on TV and promotion for some car company. The studio kicked off its marketing campaign in a huge way, holding a trailer launch event in Times Square with Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, an Nathalie Emmanuel. They also used commercials and trailers in the movie theaters to get their movie seen. The trailer then quickly became a viral sensation. They also picked the right time to drop the movie. They did it at the time "Fate of the Furious" would be the only movie in theaters for adult audiences. It also helps that "Fate of the Furious" in the eighth movie that they have to come out. So, if everyone has seen the ones before that, they would want to continue to watch the other ones...

Art of the Title Class Activity

I thought that "Drive" was done really well. There were not any comments on the website for this opening. The aspects that I like from Drive is how the first shot is a shot that shows where they are and it is from above. Our first shot is also like that off the parking garage. I like the way the font fits the theme, it is not just a normal default font, its one that you don't really see. They used a dark color composer to show the scene with a pink cursive writing. With this contrast the print is clean, bold, and easy to read. The cursive text creates a ekegant theme, where the pink a sense of excitenent that will take place in the film. For our film we can use a front and opening credit sequences that adds to the fast pace sense of the film. Our front should be clear and maybe with an orange/red color.

My target audience

The target audience for our movie would be from teens all the way to adults, ages 13-60. The movie fits to all genders. It would not really be a kid friendly movie, as most would not know what is going on. The income level for this movie can vary to all and education level as personal interest will vary as well because the movie is fit for mostly everyone. The overall story line as well as characters and plot will make our product appealing.

social groups

There are two social groups in our film. Makayla is an international criminal and Erik is the good guy. The two are against eachother because Makayla has stolen something from Erik and he wants it back.

revisions

There are a few revisions that we have to make with the film itself as well as some of the blog posts. First we have to edit the quality of the video on YouTube, which means we have to repost the video from Logan's computer due to some issues with the file when posting it through mine. Lastly I believe that we will have to go into some of there blog posts and edit/add more due to some lack of information in some of them.

we chose to develop the film the way we did because we wanted to do something different and we wanted it to be tense, action-packed and eventful. we chose to edit the film on Logans computer, but we all contributed to it with out certain shots and editing. we chose the shots and the editing the way we did because we wanted it to seem dramatic and as if your in the action that it happening. i first contributed by my dialogue and suggesting that the first shot be from under and only our feet showing. I then contributed by suggesting the part when i jump in through the elevator. Overall i believe that the film came out way better than we expected it to and I am very happy with the group and how everyone worked together.
